Thank You Councillor Terry Cutmore

Just a quick post to say that I have heard back from Councillor Terry Cutmore, and while he is obviously a very busy man, he has taken the time to say that he "hasn't forgotten nor ignored" my query and has also said..

"I have asked specifically where you sit in the rollout and am awaiting details."

This I hope will help our plight, and once again I am very impressed with his reply and help.

Thank you Sir.

Lastly, I have had a lot of page views (some 300+) and hope people agree with the cause; any comments or issues, negative or positive will be gratefully received.

Thank you fellow villagers

fast broadband facts

Hi, thanks for visiting.

I love this village and everything about it, but what I don't like is broadband that is less than 1mb.

The government is spending millions upgrading broadband for the country, giving money to councils to invest in upgrading broadband infrastructure. Great news.

www.SuperFastEssex.org (contact email is Make.theConnection@essex.gov.uk ) have assessed our area and we are not going to be included as part of their rollout. This is because we are considered as part of BTs commercial rollout.

Our local cabinet can support super fast fibre broadband. However I have it on great authority from a very senior BT spokesperson that we are not going to get connected to this cabinet as we are not commercially viable. This is understandable as they are a business.

However we are also currently not going to be helped by SuperFastEssex as we are as far as they are concerned being handled by BT.

SuperFastEssex are doing a great job and this is not all about criticising their decision, as they have helped many people in our area.

However they have helped... well people outside our area.... with.. money from the government... which is... yes... our money. Hmmm...

We are in the void, because http://www.SuperFastEssex.org are not going to help us and neither are BT. We have to help ourselves by, I feel, getting support from SuperFastEssex and ask if they can politely reconsider our Hawkell cabinet or help us with the funding.

Make no mistake unless we raise the profile here we are not going to ever get fast broadband. The only other option is that we pay for it ourselves (i'm hearing 5 figures).

What can you do?

I think take a look at the superfastessex.org website, see the good work and make polite contact with them might be a good idea. Just raise the profile to start with.

The following link indicates some consultation going on up until November the 18th, I would recommend taking the time to go here, and just for completeness, put in your postcode to see what the site says about the plans for your house.
